Schoharie Promotional Association

Unfortunately, due to the flooding of the Village of Schoharie, the 2011 and 2012 Pumpkin Festivals were cancelled.
The first ever Schoharie Pumpkin Festival was held on the Saturday, October 25, 2008. The day brought many people to the village, even with the ominous weather forecast. It was decided to continue the festival on the Saturday before Halloween each year in the Village. Schoharie Promotional Association along with local businesses and organizations work together to sponsor events throughout the day. One of our goals is to get people to visit our beautiful village while enjoying a fall day in the country to honor the king of gourds – the pumpkin. There’s fun and prizes for all ages and a day jam-packed with events such as the pumpkin Olympics, hay rides, pony rides, the largest pumpkin contest, the pumpkin seed spitting contest, a costume parade and a carved pumpkin contest, a fall bake-off, face painting, entertainment of all kinds in the courtyard, and lots more. Food (featuring pumpkin specialties) and craft vendors are onsite, and we encourage visitors to stop by our local restaurants and stores. The festival gets larger each year as we add events and surprises.
